Herbs

Aromatic and savory. This leafy herb is used in much of the Italian cuisine that has become a staple of the American diet such as pizza, pasta, and lasagna, just to name a few. Used often in seafood as well as Mediterranean and Cuban cuisine.

Organic Egyptian Basil. Slightly sweet, aromatic. Cooking options with fresh basil are almost unlimited. Basil is often added to pizza, chicken, pasta, sandwiches, sauces, salads, eggs, and fresh fruit. It can also be added to vinegar, oil, jam, and sauces such as pesto.

When cooking, basil is often added to a dish at the last possible moment to preserve the flavor.

This aromatic herb tastes like a mix of thyme and mint and takes well to oil and vinegar. Summer savory is a lighter flavored herb that is great on chicken. It is frequently dried, ground, and added to several mixes such as Herbs de Provence. Refill bag, .5 ounce

Try it in tea mixes, butters, egg dishes, and fresh grilled vegetables. The tender leaves can be used in fresh salads and a few leaves can also be added to white wine for a more refreshing flavor!

Parsley, broken leaf can be used in anything from soups to sauces to vegetables. In Middle Eastern cuisine, parsley is the one of the main ingredients in dishes such as tabbouleh salad and is the main herb used in the stuffing for grape leaves and is often used in herb blends. As a garnish, parsley can be chopped and sprinkled in soups, hummus, or mixed with ground meat, such as lamb. More times than not you will find parsley in most Middle Eastern recipes. 1 ounce

Sumac. Tart, berry, and lemony flavor that can be used in place of lemon. Great when sprinkled on a delicious summer salad, sprinkled over fish or chicken. Sumac is very common to Middle Eastern cooking and is used to make our Israeli Za'atar spice blend, the beautiful and delicious fattoush salad or added to tabbouleh. Refill bag - 3 ounces

*Quick eats: slice up a few fingerling potatoes diagonally, toss with olive oil and salt, then bake at 360 degrees for 35 minutes. Now sprinkle with sumac and toss to coat. Serve with fish and enjoy!

Israeli Summer Salad with Sumac Recipe

Savory and earthy with a touch of heat. Blended with Greek oregano, cracked fennel seeds, rubbed sage, marjoram, red chile flakes, sea salt and thyme. This sausage takes you back to a place when times were simple and families had Sunday morning breakfast while Dad read the newspaper and Mom flipped the pancakes. As a delicious option, add 1 tablespoon of pure maple syrup to 1 pound of ground meat. Use 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons of this blend per 1 pound of ground meat, salt to taste. 2 ounces

Organic French Tarragon. Used in herb butter, soups, seafood, sauces and herb blends. Tarragon, commonly used in French cooking, has a  pleasant aroma with a subtle licorice taste! It adds a fresh spring taste and a bit of elegance to a variety of recipes, including fish, salad dressings and chicken dishes. Excellent when used as an herb butter and then rubbed on fish or chicken before broiling or pan searing. 

Thyme is a fragrant, small-leafed, woody-stemmed culinary herb that is used frequently in Mediterranean, Italian, and Provençal French cuisines. It pairs well with lamb, poultry and tomatoes, and is often used in soups, stews, stocks, and sauces. Other herbs with which thyme can be successfully combined include rosemary, marjoram, parsley, oregano, and bay leaf.
